The mission of Bayhealth Medical Center’s hematology-medical oncology fellowship program is to educate, mentor, and develop hematology/medical oncology physicians who will provide state of the art healthcare while cultivating research to expand the knowledge of neoplastic and hematologic diseases. Our program focuses on educating new fellows to bring cutting edge care to underserved and diverse populations of patients commonly served by community cancer programs. To achieve our goal, the program has developed these five aims:

To create the next generation of hematologist-oncologists to serve the people of the Delaware and the adjacent regions served by Bayhealth
To train hematologist-oncologists to provide excellent and timely care of neoplastic, hematologic, and related disorders by evidence-based medicine
To create high standards of patient safety and quality improvement in hematology and oncology care
To enhance the academic environment and teaching in our underserved communities and train hematologists and oncologists to serve in community cancer programs
To advance collaboration, availability, and research with interdisciplinary and interprofessional teams

Our goal as a program is to achieve these aims while also enhancing the access to care for our community. As the only Hematology and Medical Oncology fellowship in the state of Delaware, we are proud to educate the next generation of physicians to deliver the best cancer care by providing state-of-the-art treatment, clinical research, education, and prevention to the people of our region.

Mission

The mission of Bayhealth Medical Center’s hematology-medical oncology fellowship program is to educate, mentor, and develop hematology/medical oncology physicians who will provide state of the art healthcare while cultivating research to expand the knowledge of neoplastic and hematologic diseases.The fellowship program will focus on educating new fellows to bring cutting edge care to underserved and diverse populations of patients served by community cancer programs. The fellowship program is the only program in the State of Delaware to train physicians in the field of hematology and medical oncology. These guiding principles align with the mission of the Bayhealth Cancer Institute to deliver the best cancer care in Delaware.

AIMS

To aid in the fulfillment of its mission, Bayhealth's hematology/medical oncology program has developed these five aims:
