I believe meaningful practice and resident wellbeing starts with relationships. This residency program emphasizes the value of continuity with patients, faculty and your fellow residents. You will have a dedicated faculty coach who will get to know you as an individual, guide your academic journey and support you throughout your training. We all went into medicine to take care of people, and the value of the patient-physician relationship will be consistently prioritized. We will go on retreats together to learn more about each other, build camaraderie and work as a team. Our work environment will be a place where you can feel safe, learn from others, and feel joy.
Our residency program is innovative, evidence-based and cutting edge. We challenge norms, and don’t settle for how things have always been done. We support a culture of inquiry, and challenge our learners to not only ask questions, but research solutions. We appreciate the barriers of implicit bias and socioeconomic disparity to equality of health outcomes, but aim to overcome them. We see value in the diversity of our community, and will train future physicians to embrace it.
Our learning environment prioritizes academic excellence, constructive feedback and unbiased evaluation of our learners. We identify your strengths and weaknesses as a way to promote growth, and ultimately to make each of our residents the best version of themselves. Our X+Y schedule provides a balance between rigor and recovery, and emphasizes the importance of both inpatient and ambulatory experiences. Our curriculum is designed to teach you the skills and knowledge to be the internist of the future. We will provide you with the foundation of internal medicine, and then give you a chance to design part of your schedule around your unique needs and career goals.
Welcome to Bayhealth.
