Yes. After successfully completing step 3, being promoted by PGY-2 year and obtaining a full medical license, residents are allowed to work outside of the organization for moonlighting pay if approved by the program director. These hours will count towards duty hours and cannot exceed ACGME requirements.
Bayhealth does have Hematology/Medical Oncology and Gastroenterology Fellowship programs. Residents will rotate with fellows on subspecialty rotations. If you are interested in another specialty, we will assist you by providing opportunities to attend away elective rotations at preeminent university centers so you can prove that you deserve a spot in their fellowship program. Completing research or scholarly activity is a requirement for all Internal Medicine residency programs and is valued by fellowship programs when considering applicants.
Yes! Bayhealth became a core clinical campus for Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) in 2019, and we now host students from Drexel University School of Medicine and Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. We also started accepting students from other schools through VSLO in 2022.
